Door Seals
Door seals prevent water, dust, and outside air from entering the cabin where a heavy equipment sits. These rubber gaskets also reduce road noise by sealing the gaps between the door and the door frame. Typically, cab door seals are fabricated from EPDM bulb trim. The trim, or retainer, section is pressed into place over a flange. Closing the door compresses the bulb for a reliable seal.
Engine Heat Shields
Engine heat shields keep heat and noise from the engine bay from reaching the cabin. They are installed on the firewall and made from multiple materials. Elasto Proxy builds engine compartment insulation with a top layer that reflects radiant heat, a middle layer that blocks or absorbs loud engine sounds, and a bottom layer that uses an PSA tape for peel-and-stick installation.
Flooring
Rubber flooring protects the metal subfloor in heavy equipment cabins. It provides greater wear resistance than carpeting and is easier to clean. In addition, recessed features can catch mud and water from an operator’s boots, reducing slip-and-fall hazards. Rubber flooring that’s laminated to an acoustical foam can also absorb noise from the engine bay.
Formed Hoses
Formed hoses are produced by vulcanizing hollow rubber extrusions so that they obtain a specific shape, such as straight lengths with angled bends and flare ends. These extruded rubber products are made with metal tools called dies instead of molds. Applications for formed hoses include fuel lines, coolant lines, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
Headliners
Headliners are installed on the ceilings of operator cabs to reduce noise, improve comfort, and enhance the cabin’s visual appeal. These sandwich-style structures are made of acoustical foams laminated to perforated facings and a PSA backing. Engineers can select a facing color that matches their larger product design, and vinyl facing materials are easy to wipe down and clean.
Pedal Covers
Pedal covers are heavy equipment parts that fit over the metal surfaces of gas, brake, and clutch pedals. Because they are ribbed or textured, these molded rubber products improve traction, reducing the risk that an operator’s foot will slip off the pedal. Pedal covers are usually black in color but come in a variety of sizes and finishes.
Shift Boots
Shift boots, or shifter boots, are molded rubber products that protect the gear shifter from dirt, dust, or debris. They are installed over metal levers and provide a more comfortable surface for an operator to grip. Shift boots also help insulate the cabin from heat or cold that could come from the transmission tunnel. In addition, they reduce noise from the transmission and engine.
Silicone Hose Connectors
Silicone hose connectors connect intake pipes and tubes in diesel-powered heavy equipment. They are designed to contain and convey fluids while withstanding hot or cold temperatures. Types of silicone hose connectors include elbows, reducer hoses, straight hoses, hump hoses and wrapped hoses. This product category also includes heater hoses and coolant hoses.
Vibration Mounts
Vibration mounts are rubber-to-metal bonded assemblies that protect heavy equipment from vibrations, back-and-forth movements that can cause mechanical wear and affect human health and safety. They are installed under the engine and other locations where vibrations can cause structure-borne noise.
Window Seals
Window seals, or window channels, seal out the environment and help hold window glass in place. They also absorb vibrations that can cause glass to rattle. Window seals can slide on or slide into position. They feature a one-piece or two-piece construction and are made of a variety of materials, including EPDM, TPEs, and silicone.
