Elasto Proxy makes thermal and acoustic insulation for heavy equipment, generator sets, and other industrial applications. We use water jet cutting to convert sheet materials into specific shapes, such as heat shields for engine bay firewalls and headliners for cabins. We also laminate thermal and acoustic materials together to create sandwich-style structures with specific properties, such as the ability to reduce low frequency sounds and resist the spread of fire.

In addition, Elasto Proxy can provide you with taped insulation that comes with a peel-away liner for faster assembly. We can also mark your thermal and acoustic insulation with part numbers that make individual products easier to identify. By leveraging our added-value services, you can even get all the insulation you need in a single box, packaged in assembly order. If you use just-in-time inventory, that cardboard box can travel from your receiving dock right to your assembly line.

Water Jet Cutting

Water jet cutting is a fast and efficient way to cut thermal insulation materials and acoustic insulation materials into finished products. There’s no tooling to wait for or pay for, and water jet cutting is more accurate than using an Exacto knife and a cardboard template. The process begins with your computer-aided design file (CAD) and is highly repeatable.

In cabins, water jet cut panels fit together cleanly and without gaps that would allow heat or noise to pass-through. Along with smooth edges, this computer-controlled process can make angled or chamfered cuts so that your insulation fits features such as brake pedal arms. Angled cuts for wrap-around edges  provide a finished appearance.

Elasto Proxy also uses water jet cutting to create through-holes for fasteners that are required by cabin components such as fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and net pockets. To accommodate raised fastener heads that are hidden behind cabin insulation, we can even cut blind holes in the back of the foam. These holes aren’t visible, but they support flush mounting.

Water jet cutting is faster, more efficient, and more accurate than manual cutting.

Laminating and Taping

Elasto Proxy also specializes in laminating different materials together to provide complete insulation solutions. For a quieter cabin, we can laminate rubber flooring to acoustic foams. We can also laminate sound blockers to sound absorbers or sound dampeners. For the engine bays of diesel-powered equipment, thermal and acoustic materials can be combined. Often, these insulation sandwiches have a laminated foil facing that reflects heat.

If you need insulation made from multiple materials, lamination precedes water jet cutting. Elasto Proxy can also tape your products so that they’re easier to install. Tapes that use a heat-activated taping system (HATS) require curing to obtain their final properties but provide permanent fastening. Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes don’t require curing and are applied with light pressure. They’re used for temporary fastening and with screws, bolts, staples, or pins.

PSA tapes are removable and can bond thermal and acoustic insulation to rough or porous surfaces. 3M HATS high-bond tape provides strong adhesion and bonds to automotive paints and plastics. Both types of tapes offer advantages over mechanical fasteners and liquid adhesives. For example, unlike mechanical fasteners, adhesive tapes won’t vibrate loose. Tapes are also cleaner and safer than liquid adhesives, which are messy and can raise environmental health and safety concerns.

Elasto Proxy laminated the materials, applied adhesive tape, and waterjet cut this insulation.

Value-Added Services for Thermal and Acoustic Insulation

Elasto Proxy can also fabricate your thermal and acoustic insulation in a way that leverages our value-added services. For example, parts marking produces letters and numbers that are easier-to-read for fewer picking errors. Inkjet printing and drying with ultraviolet (UV) light also supports the inclusion of production information like the manufacturing date.

With Elasto Proxy’s kitting services, you can get a box that contains all of the thermal and acoustic insulation that your installers need for a build. We can even package insulation in assembly order so that the part to install first, such as a headliner, is on top. Customers who send us a blanket purchase order and their sales forecast can leverage even more of our value-added services.

Do you need thermal and acoustic insulation for heavy equipment, generator sets, or other industrial applications? Elasto Proxy fabricates thermal insulation and acoustic insulation from materials that we source from a global network of 200+ suppliers. We offer several standard products, but we specialize in custom insulation solutions.
